Our black lentils are proudly grown and sprouted in Canada. These lentils go through a slow soaking and sprouting period, so don’t need any pre-soaking. This improves digestibility, enhances taste and texture, and reduces cook time to just 10 minutes. These little powerhouses are an excellent choice for quick and simple meals, and work well as a meat replacement. Like other pulses, they cook by simply boiling in water. Sprouted black lentils have a tender texture, yet keep their shape well (think “al dente”). Their subtle earthy taste is excellent at absorbing flavours, especially aromatics like garlic and onion. They are great in warm and cold dishes like salads, side dishes and grain bowls. And, they hold up well in soups, stews and curries.
